Essential Training for:
– Experienced Leads
– New Leads
– Potential Leads
Your Team Leads play an important role in your organization- they’re the voice and face of management, front-line interaction with workers and charged with executing the plan. However, have they been given the tools that are necessary to be an effective leader? The Team Lead Essentials (TLE) program focuses on the theory of leadership and application of tools in order to lead high-performing teams.
Course Description: The TLE course is designed for current or future team leads within an organization who currently have a leadership role, or have been identified with leadership potential. Through interactive classroom instruction and practical tools provided, the program focuses on equipping Team Leads with the skills necessary to manage and lead high-performing teams.
Length: The course is 12 contact hours, which can be taught in two, six-hour sessions OR four, three-hour sessions.
The TLE program focuses on four distinct segments- each building on the previous:
- The Worker: This session begins by exploring the foundation of every organization, the worker, by examining the impact that the front-line worker has within an organization. Further, it discusses the unique differences between a manager and leader and allows students to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as a leader
- The Manager: This session examines the new set of tools that a Team Lead needs in a management role to effectively lead. It discusses management techniques and the important role measurement standards have within a team and their performance. How to effectively manage time, delegate and resolve conflict are heavily emphasized.
- The Leader: This session strives to take your leads to the next level, teaching them how to be a proactive leader and not a reactive manager. This session introduces four distinct types of leadership domains based on Gallup’s StrengthsFinder: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building and Strategic Thinking and discusses how to lead using your strengths.
- Leading High-Performing Teams: The TLE program concludes with how Team Leads can provide effective on-the-job training in order to have a skilled team that performs at maximum potential. This session also discusses on how to capitalize on opportunities for continuous improvement and how to effectively handle change management.
In addition, the TLE program also emphasizes several employability skills (also known as ‘soft skills’), including: communication, critical thinking, delegation, time management and conflict resolution. Students receive a Vincennes University Certificate of Completion upon conclusion of the TLE program.
